Project Overview
________________________________________
I had seen moon-style desk lamps trending online and wanted to try making my own with 3D-Printing! To add my own personality, I decided to make it a lithophane with a picture of my family and include RGB lighting.

Preliminary Design
Electronics
3D Model
I configured the electronics in Tinkercad to test the circuit and figure out what components I would need for this project. After that, I had found an online generator to create the lithophane itself. I imported the electronic components and modeled a display stand in Fusion 360 to hold the lithophane and all electronics with access points for a button and power.

Wiring
After 3D-Printing the lithophane and the display piece, I wrapped the adhesive side of an LED strip along the cylindrical extrusion and soldered all connecting electrical components together.

Reflection
This was a fun project to work on and inspired me to use lithophanes for personalized gifts that I have given to friends and family. I learned a lot about tolerances when working on this project as I encountered initial issues with fitment. If I were to do this project again, I would want to try incorporating magnets or threads to lock the lithophane into place as it comes off very easily with the current design. I also think it would be cool to create interchangeable lithophanes for the display stand.
