As both a gift to a friend and an excuse to learn about Bluetooth connectivity and rechargeable LiPo batteries, I decide to design and make a custom, portable Bluetooth speaker—decorated as a novelty to resemble Shrek.

I began by researching the necessary electronic components for a Bluetooth-enabled speaker circuit and how to safely integrate a rechargeable LiPo battery for portability. After creating a wiring diagram, I organized 3D models of the components in Fusion 360, and designed an exterior casing to form to the electronics.

After first debugging the circuit on a breadboard, I soldered all components together and 3D-Printed the external casing into two segments, sanding and priming it for paint.

Reflection
Through this project I now feel more comfortable implementing rechargeable batteries into future products whereas before I had only worked with single use and wall-plug methods for power. If I were to revisit this project I would reiterate the model to better incorporate the toggle switch as it ended up being difficult to access with its original placement. This project has also encouraged me to want to further explore Bluetooth capabilities in the future!
